Description:
Craftsmanship™ is a collection that reflects Japan’s traditional techniques, regional culture, and the enduring spirit of its artisans.

Sashiko is a traditional form of needlework that originated around 400 years ago in the snowy regions of northeastern Japan, developed as a way to reinforce fabric and extend the life of garments.

This piece follows the same silhouette as the MENES Okayama Raw Selvedge Baggy Jeans, and is finished by artisans who carry on the traditional technique of Nagai Sashiko, a craft passed down in Nagai City, Yamagata.

The sashiko patterns featured on the pockets are “Kazegoma” and its variation “Kakinohana.”

For this piece, the stitching is not applied purely for reinforcement, but as an expression—allowing both the rigid denim and the sashiko to evolve together over time.

After washing, 2~3% shrinkage will occur.
We recommend hand washing as the primary method of care.

刺し子は、約400年前の雪深い東北の地で生まれた針仕事で、布を補強し、長く使い続けるための知恵として受け継がれてきました。

本作は、MENES Okayama Raw Selvedge Baggy Jeans と同じシルエットを踏襲しながら、山形県長井市に伝わる伝統技法「長井刺し子」を受け継ぐ職人の手仕事によって仕上げられた一着です。

ポケット部分に施された刺し子の柄は、「風駒」と、その応用である「柿の花」です。

今回は、リジッドデニムと刺し子をともに育てていく過程を楽しんでいただくため、補強ではなく、表現に近いかたちで刺し子を施しています。

洗濯後、2〜3%の縮みが発生しますのでご留意ください。
基本的には、手洗いを推奨しています。
